Unique racing pictures by Peo Quick at the Ronnie Peterson Museum
From September 20 and until the end of the year, photographer Peo Quick exhibits unique images from the 1960's and 70's in a photo exhibition called "Quick Speed".
Peo Quick has always been interested in two things: motorsport and photographing. The combination was perfect when he grew up in Karlskoga in the 1950's and 60's. Going to Gelleråsen, the race track next door, with the camera Peo manage to take numerous of speed-filled photos.
- I made my own little magazine, in which I cut and pasted photos and text, and then copied and distributed it, says Peo Quick.
Peo's photos of motorsport stars were published in newspapers around the world. For many years he followed Ronnie Peterson in both the cockpit and in the pits. Peo's biggest moment was when he was accredited as one of the few motorsport photographers at the Formula 1 race at Anderstorp in 1977.
- Ronnie's greatness became even clearer when I followed him closely. A quite guy who always braked last in the corners, and who always wanted to go little faster, says Peo. When Ronnie died at Monza I lost my motivation to photograph motorsport.
- Now, 30 years later, it felt exciting to go through all the photos and realize that there are lots of great photos in a unique collection of motorsports photos from the days when racing made all of Sweden come to a halt.
The QuickSpeed images can be bought in our shop.
